The Diabolicon was never, not at any time, of importance to LaVey or any of his own close circle who all had Priest Degrees. Aquino was giving written tests to certain COS people and also claiming he was the Bishop of LaVey. "Bishop," and "Master of the Realm." Quotes. Aquino was also appointing people to be Grotto leaders. There is some proof (in writing) in existence that he promoted a know-nothing idiot over a university student from a real Satanic/Masonic background and otherwise promoted the most uncreative and gullible types into his own circle. These people thought Aquino acted on LaVey's authority but people otherwise in the know ignored it and knew better and/or just didn't form or join grottos. Many people had left the COS when LaVey disbanded the grottos and they ALL claimed to be his "True" replacements. Some of these are people, in the USA, that started what later became the O.N.A. in England. These people were markedly political, supremely anti-Christian and extremely racist. They are the people who FIRST spread it all over that LaVey was part Jewish and mostly Gypsy and that his first daughter Karla was "not an Aryan." Gypsies are hardly Aryans. The group was Aryanist. James Madole, of the National Renaissance Party, had many of these people at his home and knew of them prior to 1974. None of these people were in any high positions nor were they close to LaVey: tho they either claimed this or denied any former affiliation with the COS. None of them ever fixated on LaVey. In Burton Wolfe's "The Devil's Avenger," published in 1974 and therefore compiled and written earlier than 1974, is presented information from those truly close to LaVey: trusted and high-positioned people. Aquino (and the others claiming the same) is not even mentioned in there as anything. Had he been in any way important, he'd have been mentioned, AT LEAST mentioned. Now Aquino is simply trying to write himself into the history of the COS and this is quite apparent to anyone who knew all of this back then and should be apparent with just a little bit of research: read the Wolfe book! He uses many hedges and pseudo-proofs to claim this: he edited the Cloven Hoof and he handled the mail. This means absolutely nothing except that a person has command of English and has the time to do it. Many people edit books and handle fan mail; often they don't even know the author of the book.
Why does LaVey look the way he looks:? He looks even "more" without the bald head. Why? Because he is of a certain ethnic group that simply LOOKS that way. Aquino is not. Those in this ethnic group tend to, in-general, find Aquino-types to be "yich." They look revolting or squamous. Those of this ethnic group also tend to be innately skeptical, even sarcastic toward "any religion." They tend to enjoy a good laugh, they are very cunning, and they usually can't even relate to the mind-body neurological dualist state that most "Aryanists" simply have either by birth or by being brought up in an unnatural household. As such, the two form two distinct TYPES of people. While the Aquino type might try as hard as ever to bridge an "unbridgeable gulf" that exists in terms of the innate natures, the LaVey types tend to want no part of the others and find them suffocating, boring, and a bit crazy. The Aquino types all claim to be telling "nothing but the truth" and yet they are people with a real cpacity to lie TO THEMSELVES and believe their own lies. That is just the type of animals they are.
As to correspondence between Smith and Aquino deteriorating into "which deity spoke to or through them making decisions FOR them" -- this only shows the dualist mind-set of both of these people, and possible schizophrenia if they relaly did hear voices talking to them claiming to be deities or not. What is the "big secret" to getting close to or friendly with LaVey that Aquino could never fathom and still can't fathom? The mark that a person is truly his own person. That is a secret to dualists, a secret they cannot fathom, are unable to fathom. Neurology has a term for this: "anosognoria;" it means "Disease of Knowing." They can not KNOW what it is to be a self, have a real self or speak from the heart without having to think up a way to frame the words/sentences before saying them. The feeling is there throughout the body and the speech centers of the brain just "know" how to frame the words without having to think about how to do it. Without this body- map that feels, the thinking/speech centers just end up framing illogical sentences. The dualist types that do this leterally DO NOT KNOW they are making no sense. They hedge, squirm out of things, shift subjects when they are getting nailed down or simply retreat. Neurologists using such people as test subjects used to give up on them and dismiss them as incorrigible liars until it was realized that they aren't actually lyying: they just don't know and can't know.
LaVey generally gives out high degrees to those that know that this is merely symbolic; he does so when they have shown themselves to be CREATIVE in the artistic way and "doing their own thing" with the art. Gilmore writes neo-classical and martial music much different than music LaVey himself plays and therefore likes to play. Nadramia publishes her own magazine, "Grue," which has nothing to do with the COS. These are creative endeavors and LaVey does recognize these as being "satanically inspired," that is, inspired by a FEEL, not so much cerebral logic. If such people are in his COS, they get degrees. There is no secret to how this has always worked in the COS. But Aquino has never understood this. These people aren't doing anything in order to try to get close to LaVey, but they END UP close to LaVey because they share a satanic nature in-common. Likewise, there is no secret to being African. All you have to do is BE one: this is inborn and not something anyone can work at becoming. One either is from this race or one is not. Whites who try to act "black" are not black, can't be black, and they can't fool anyone. They do manage to convince themselves and fool themselves. There is no use to arguing with such a person using written words. It won't work. Face to face, if a person audibly said it strongly enough and it "got into" the wannabe, he'd be momentarily disabused of his delusions. Usually, he shunts this data into another portion of HIS compartmentaliized and disunited brain and forgets it and, as he is doing this shunting, if he writes things about it they seem like hedging, twisting, changing the subject: to most normal people they seem to be lying. Dionysian people do not have this compartmentalization of the brain; they don't have a shadow self or hidden side. They are a whole unit, one self, and they are intact. The mumblings of these dualist types are incomprehensible and usually misinterpreted by normal people who try to make sense of what these dualists are saying. It works both ways. Most normal people can't fathom the dualists unless they make a study of this; dualists are absolutely unable to fathom what it IS to have a whole self. That's just the way it is. No sense in debating it. Neurology has proven this not with theory, but with hard, clinical, laboratory tests. Tone deaf people rarely know they are singing out of tune; musical people recognize this immediately without having to think about it. They simply hear it. Music is the best analogy for this condition. The tone-deaf types can't fathom just what it is the musically inclined are hearing.
Xeper, in Aquino's TOS, amounts to "becoming more like Aquino and in
total agreement." The people who go for this are using Aquino/Set as the
"head that thinks FOR them." No such thing exists in the COS and LaVey
is perfectly able to recognize this type of "clinger" who would want to
use LaVey as the "earth around which they'd seek to orbit." LaVey HATES
such people and he can feel it when they are doing it. I don't know if
he is able to define this or describe it because it would sound very far
out to describe how this feels. It feels like the person is hanging onto
you even when he is not near you physically. It feels like they are trying
to "get into" a place inside you. Many deal with this by peacefully restraining
the fan and keeping him happy; but that doesn't work for long because the
fan wants more. What the fan really wants is to BECOME the idol. Aquino
can't BECOME LaVey, but he can try to do the next best thing which is what
he actually did. Many people know what this is. No one can define it technically.
Aquino wanted LaVey to be his Muse, yet males are not muses and LaVey never
ever tried to be ANYONE's muse. And yet, almost without trying it all,
others just got close to LaVey as if naturally. This is not hard to explain
because it happens in everyday life far outside the neo-satanic realm.
One would think that it would be logical to go after former TOS members
who run to the Fundies where there is real politcal danger these days.
But Aquino doesn't do this. His focus was and still is on LaVey and only
LaVey. He is the moon that tried to orbit the earth-LaVey and got thrown
out of orbit. All his squirmings and hedgings, when he's nailed down, are
only devices this type of person uses to AVOID facing this. He tried and
tried so hard: and he remained nothing to LaVey. Others didn't try at all
and became LaVey's friennds and close associates. This is what really happened:
back then. Letters be damned; people write lorts of polite nothings in
letters. What they say in person and even more, what they DO, bespeaks
the truth. A person relentlessly tried to "get in." What is LaVey to think?
Maybe the person wants a degree or some job? Give it to the person. That's
not quite what that person wants, and so forth. This "clinger" issue is
not the same as when a person is in love with you and when you feel nothing
back toward the person. The two could be intermingled, but not neccesarily
so. Clingers do a kind of "dance." Aquino recognizably did this. He presented
LaVey with "his gift" yet LaVey barely looked at it. Next, he convinced
himself that his gift was of major importance to LaVey despite the fact
that personal interactions were evidence to the contrary. he tried and
tried: to no avail. It is not difficult also to fathom why Mr. Spock would
be an Aquino focus along with LaVey: Nimoy and LaVey DO resemble each other
and that is simply because Leonard Nimoy is an ethnic kinsman of LaVey's!
No secret. Jantsang also had this "look" and it is most noticeable when
she has on NO make-up. One COS member mistook a photo of Jantsang for one
of LaVey's daughters; yet Jantsang is of no relation to the LaVey family.
With such people as this, one can now more clearly define this "look."
It is "Tatar." That Gypsies have it is no secret: they are Tatars, the
same race. That many Jews have it is no secret: they hail from E. Europe
where many non Tatars have Tatar blood and look similar. It can also pass
for "Hispanic" due to the large proportion of Amerind in "Hispanic" people.
In the Middle East such people could walk around and be taken for natives.
One has this look by birth just as blacks have a "Look" no matter how fair
they may be. Many people from India look black and vice versa. They simply
talk and dress differently. In England some Celts have this look which
is a throwback to what their own people originally were. Different ethnic
groups do, indeed, have specific natures and it is their innate natures
that form their culture. Culture is not a thought out thing. It simply
grouws or literally Xepers into existence from their own genes and being.
It flows forth from them like water flows from a well. It can't be mimicked
by someone that is not the same. Music flowed forth from Mozart; it did
not flow out of Sollieri and the story of Sollieri is almost identical
to the story of Aquino: Sollieri tried and tried and it forever remained
a mystery to him, as if Mozart had a secret he wouldn't share. Mozart couldn't
share it; it's not something that can be shared. Like Will to like. That
is not only a statement about innate genes, but it is also a statement
about Xeper. One Becomes what one is; just as a rose seed grows into a
rose and not a tulip and a dog zygote becomes a puppy who, in turn, becomes
a dog. The puppy can not grow into a cat; it's just not possible no matter
how many deities talk to the dog, no matter how much the dog tries or prays
to change. It can't happen. If the dog tries to "get in" with cats they'll
either flee away from the dog, or scratch it's eyes out. Normally, the
cat tries to run away from the dog; get away by any means. Note: dogs do
not chase after cats in order to eat them. Cats have their own natures:
no one really owns a cat; they are loner animals. Dogs are very different.
The COS can be compared to a band of cats and the "look" that LaVey has
could also be called "cat-like." Aquino's TOS can be compared to a pack
of dogs that act like dogs with Aquino being the lead-dog. Yet Aquino uses
this very epithet, "spaniel" to refer to COS people. He ego-projects. Ego-projection
to the point of delusion is also typical dualistic behavior. There is no
way on earth that a person who has not been clung to will grasp this. Clingers
can't grasp it. Marsh and Jantsang's efforts to define the "dark force
in nature" are to no avail. Everyone who is whole knows what this is and
smarter people know what this is through the sciences. Dualists can not
and will not feel it no matter how it is explained. In the sciences the
dualists can't apply the formula they memorize yet they try and strive.
The only way that some dualists have felt this real force is by regarding
it as their enemy, bracing against it, trying to battle it; or they imagine
it to be a howling horror and part of their shadow selves, while in fact
it is only their own instincts howling and screaming to get free of the
rigid moral bracing the perosn did all his own life. It is not something
that can be braced against, and it is far from a howling horror; it is
soft, gentle and life-affirming, and all people who are Whole feel this;
it's not even something special. A word for it could be: "JOY." The creation
of satanic works of art are produced through joy. Dancing is done with
joy. What I'm defining here is classic Dionysian behavior whether it's
satanic or other. What this behavior is refuting is dualists, those who
strive, those who brace, those who "try to be" when they have absolutely
no innate ability for it. This force itself refutes them. And yet this
is doomed to be incomprehensible to every dualist out there save in the
joy they might visually see in the lives and doings of others. That they
do see it is a fact. That, through Xianity, they've tried to stomp on the
joys of others is also a fact. That they imagine in their delusions that
they are doing something for some higher purpose is also a fact. Nature
tends to refute their higher purposes. These are all extremely barren and
perverse people with empty hearts that fill up eventually with malice.
All of it is self-loathing turned outward to attack anyone out there with
an ounce of Eros. This we know well.
